A Day in the Life of My Stomach

Updated Wednesday, November 9, 2011

I'm sure there are ways that I could improve my diet; in fact, I personally know people who eat better than me. However, there are many more whose diets are far worse than mine. Here's a typical day of eating for me. I aim for approximately 2,800 to 3,000 calories per day - which should be reviewed in the context of my exercise regimen - but I don't measure or weigh everything I eat. At this point, I've developed a pretty good sense of how much I should be eating.

Breakfast: Oatmeal with 1% milk, raisins, apple sauce and ground flax seed
Post-workout protein shake

Peanuts, raisins and dark chocolate chips

Lunch: fried eggs with butternut squash and parsnips, seasoned with chilli
Smoothie: 1% milk, plain yogurt, whey protein, banana and frozen mixed berries

Dinner: spicy turkey and orange meatballs, whipped sweet potato, and mixed veggies

Baked apple with raisins and cinnamon, and 100% peanut butter on the side

Bedtime snack: Cottage cheese with honey
